20 Best Lunch Spots in Edinburgh, Scotland
"My favourite lunch spot in Edinburgh is Oink, I was in the city for a weekend last year and went there twice it was so delicious. They specialise in pulled pork sandwiches, and have managed to make the best damn pulled damn pulled pork sarmie that I’ve ever had. Their menu is simple: choose your size (Piglet, Oink or Grunter), choose your bread (white or brown), choose a stuffing (sage and onion or homemade haggis), and choose a sauce (mayo, BBQ, chilli cheese, or chilli jam)."

Edinburgh vs London: Who Has the Best Street Food
"Choose from The Piglet, The Oink or, our favourite, The Grunter (which is £5.80) – all served in soft (brown or white) roll, topped with your choice of sauce: sage & onion, chilli relish, haggis or lashings of apple. And if you’re hoping to chow down on some crackling *dribbles* then you’ll need to arrive early. It’s also worth noting that all the piggies are from farms located in the beautiful Scottish Borders – so only good, honest, meat is on the menu!"

"As well as plating up fantastic Mexican food at decent prices, Illegal Jack’s also offers a great array of bottled beers. Their tasty burritos, quesadillas, tacos and nachos are all around the £7 or £8 mark, but small burritos are more than a pound cheaper than the standard size, and are more than enough to fill you up at lunchtime. 10 of the best budget eats in Edinburgh
"The Tex-Mex fast food trend was slow to arrive in Edinburgh but there are now two excellent rivals – Illegal Jack's in the south of the city and Los Cardos in the north. Illegal Jack's is a slick branded operation with the product to match. While the menu carries fajitas, nachos and tacos, it's really all about the burritos."

15 Quirky & Unique Places To Eat & Drink In Edinburgh
"Another food place just off the Royal Mile, hidden down one of its closes, Wings offers exactly what you’d expect: chicken wings. While this might not be quirky in itself, it’s full of fun pop culture references, including a Jurassic Park table, Star Trek quotes, and a wall full of characters to find. It’s also fantastic for some cheap eats in the city centre, as each set of 3 wings will cost you £4.50 – I recommend ordering two lots, and definitely not three as we found out the hard way, unless you’re really hungry!"

Edinburgh vs London: Who Has the Best Street Food
"I mean, what’s not to love about a ginormous, fully-loaded jacket spud?. It’s hot, it fills a big hole and you can choose the toppings to suit your mood. The classics (cheese & beans or tuna mayo) may always prevail – but we dare you to try, and not love, the epitome of fillers: Haggis, cheese & chutney (of the mango variety)."

10 of the best independent shops in Edinburgh
"For a genuinely luxurious high-tea experience, nothing can currently beat this packed little shop selling, as you might guess from the name, teas and antiques. But if you don't have time to sit in and try the teas (and you'd need to book anyway as they're so popular), you can squeeze past the tables to sift through the ever-changing stock of antiques, including elaborately decorated cutlery and ladies picnic parasols, and then dither over dozens of green, black, scented, infused and special loose-leaf teas, and accessories, to buy. Once you've visited, it's guaranteed you'll want to shrink the whole shop and take it home with you.17 Clerk Street, 0131-667 8466, anteaques.co.uk."

Modern One has British artists like Francis Bacon, David Hockney, Damien Hirst, and Tracey Emin; American artists like Andy Warhol; and legends like Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. Modern Two has a particularly impressive Dada and Surrealism collection; you can arrange a private viewing of the archives, a real treasure trove of those movements."
